Alex Salmond has indeed good cause to smile (Leader, 8 May). By refusing to bring forward the referendum, he will ensure that for at least another four years he will continue to collect his Westminster salary. No doubt his pension will also be enhanced.

He is worth it. Look what he is doing for Scotland.

I love people who are happy to pay all the taxes to keep politicians in the manner which they have become accostomed. I would have thought fuel raxes are high in Barra!
Does Salmond have an Edinburgh house & a London house paid for by other taxpayers who object?
I object to man who draws a salary when he is not actually doing the job properly. What about those he represents in Westminster, are they happy to continue to pay high taxes to keep the status quo?

"Mr Salmond has pledged to donate his MSPs' salary to charity, and to stand down from Westminster at the next general election."

Salmond has good cause to smile? The man should be congratulated for not writhing about in hysterics, given the complete farce that makes up Scottish Laybore just now.

Let's hope that there is a second volume of "Bendy Wendy and the Referendy".

Ask yourself why the Scotsman prints this trivial rubbish. Along with any of the frequent rubbish written by that crashing bore Alexander N McKay.
