Gerry Hassan (Debate & Opinion, 17 July) may not realise how he very nearly encapsulated Gordon Brown's term as chancellor in a nut shell, or was the paragraph tongue in cheek? He stated that Mr Brown had "opportunity to pursue his ideas on the economy and ending 'boom and bust', and on social justice and abolishing child and pension poverty".
Well, the truth is he did, but he failed miserably on all counts and now he must face the music, although he appears to be dancing around, doing nothing of merit.
