I yield to no-one in my admiration of Robert Burns's poetry, imagination and humanity. But the last thing he needs is to have an airport named after him (Letters, 9 October). The fact that Robert Liddell gives George Best and Robin Hood as precedents says it all.

I find airports the least human friendly of service places. They have the least sole and personality so why not make them as hey are? Simply, places of mundane service to catch a flight? Why not call it, um, Prestwick airport given that's where it is located?

Or, call Lothian buse main station the Rab C Nesbit bus station or some other crud.

I agree. By the same token, we should call Glasgow Airport 'Paisley Airport'.
