The SNP have, in my opinion, done well since taking power in the Scottish Parliament. That is until they proposed this stupid ban on the sale of alcohol to under-21s from off-licences.
They make the point that trials of the scheme in areas such as Stenhousemuir and Cupar have yielded positive results. It would have given them more credence if they had picked tough areas in Edinburgh and Glasgow.

Have they never stopped to think that the under-21s could turn to drugs if they can't get alcohol?

It's the serious drug problems in our prisons that the SNP should be devoting their energies to.

John,

Perhaps the next time some youth full of drink induced rage sticks a knife into someone he has never met you might just change your mind?

I dislike bans of anything. Much better to address the issue directly with Police on the beat and application of existing laws.Followed by fines (which are also followed up to ensure payment), community service and prison where required. However, a ban is simple and relatively cheap when compared to actually Policing our country properly.
