I was interested and pleased to read about the Georgian presence at the Edinburgh Festival (your report, 18 August). However, whilst the performing arts have been strongly represented for a number of years, may I remind you that the Georgian painter Alexander Berdysheff had a major one-man show at Edinburgh College of Art in 1997.
The exhibition was of great importance to him, and the memories of his time in Edinburgh are held dear by him. His work reflects the anxieties we are suddenly aware of again in Georgia. Through daily e-mails, I know all too well how important it is for this one Georgian family to have a direct link to Scotland at this time.
