I write to put the record straight about your report, "Lib Dem accuses rival of stealing ideas" (19 July), where I am quoted as saying that I am annoyed at my friend and colleague Tavish Scott for "stealing my ideas" on new tax powers for Scotland.
This is really wide of the mark. While it is clear that I stand for taking full control of economic powers for Scotland within the UK, Mr Scott is also clearly in favour of gaining more powers too. He certainly has not stolen my ideas and furthermore I very much welcome the publication of his own ideas which he has forwarded to Liberal Democrat members across the country.
