Iain Gray, in his diatribe against Alex Salmond (Government & Public Affairs, 28 August), says a devolved parliament is the desire of the Scottish people. It certainly was in 1999, but, unlike the Labour Party, "the Scottish people" may have moved on. Left to Labour, we would never know their current desires, as they consistently oppose a straightforward Yes/No referendum.
