THE father of a British woman killed in the Lockerbie bombing has accused the UK of trying to encourage the Libyan "bomber" to abort an appeal against his conviction, it was reported last night.
Jim Swire, whose daughter Flora died in the 1988 outrage, claimed the government was seek-ing to hasten a prisoner transfer agreement (PTA) with Libya which could allow Abdel Basset al-Megrahi to return home from Scotland if he drops his appeal.

He was given a life sentence in 2001 for bombing the Pan Am jet as it flew from London to New York on 18 December, 1988, killing all 259 people on board.

His lawyers have said they hoped to open a second appeal against conviction on April 28.

Mr Swire accused Justice Secretary Jack Straw of going to "extraordinary" lengths to ensure the PTA is ratified before the appeal starts in a bid to ensure it is dropped. But last night, a Justice Ministry spokesman said: "There is no date set for ratification."

Even using Robert Gordon from our Justice Department in Scotland.

If Scotland had no intention of allowing this to happen then Why the letters to the victims families ?

It seems like a done deal to allow the Judiciary to remain intact.

I have never believed this man was guilty from day one. In my opinion the only thing he is guilty of is that he is Libyan. Why would anyone who played a part in blowing a plane out of the sky deny it afterwards? God Forbid, but if I had wanted to carry out such an action in order to bring my particular cause into the limelight, I would only be to pleased to admit to it. No this whole matter has been a cover up from the very start. The only comfort I have is that I tried everything in my power to submit my evidence to the courts and the authorities, but my request was bluntly refused. I know we all make mistakes, but the PA103 incident was on the 21st Dec 1988, not the 18th as the write up suggests.
