In a report looking at entrepreneurialism in the UK, 69 per cent of Scottish business people surveyed believed that entrepreneurial spirit was an inherent attribute, bucking the trend with the rest of the UK who believed that it was learnt throughout life.
Gary Gerrard, head of commercial banking in Scotland, said: "Scottish entrepreneurs clearly believe in nature over nurture and I believe it is this positive mental attitude which gives Scottish entrepreneurs their instinct for business and the belief to achieve even greater success."
Gerrard, who is one of the brains behind the Bank of Scotland Corporate's £35 million Entrepreneur Challenge, adds: "Bank of Scotland Corporate shares this 'can do' attitude and that is why we have launched the Challenge again this year to support Scottish entrepreneurs."
