Fire drama at flat above bar

FIREFIGHTERS were called to a blaze in a flat above a city pub over the weekend.

The fire broke out in the property above Mackenzies Bar on Main Street in Davidson's Mains at around 9.15am on Saturday.

Three appliances from Crewe Toll attended and a man was treated for smoke inhalation at the scene.

A spokeswoman for Lothian and Borders Fire and Rescue Service said: "We received a call to the flat above Mackenzies Bar, which was well alight.

"Firefighters used four breathing apparatus and two hose reels."
