Future of school travel is yellow, says Blunkett

THEY'RE bright yellow, full of excitable children and could be heading to a school near you if David Blunkett MP gets his way.

Mr Blunkett, chairman of the Yellow School Bus Commission, visited the Scottish Parliament yesterday to promote the yellow school buses seen as an icon of safety and reliability in North America.

The buses, already used in some parts of the UK, provide dedicated home-to-school transport for children who do not live close enough to walk or cycle.

They also cut out the school run and give parents reassurance their children will be safe on the journey to and from school.
