THEY say that PL Travers, the famously spirited author of the Mary Poppins stories, never liked the great 1964 Disney film of her work, starring Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke, and, after a visit to Richard Eyre's fabulous West End stage production of the story, now beginning a two-month run at the Edinburgh Playhouse, I'm beginning to understand why.
It's not that I won't always be in love with the movie itself: it's a lovely, seamless, beautifully-crafted celebration of all that's sweet and enjoyable, with its own rollicking rhythm and kindly human values.

What is needed is less regulation, lower taxes and a return to sound money. These are all measures which Joyce MacMillan is opposed to and she demands extremely big government.
