This article points out something that most people seem to have forgotten! Russia; a nuclear power that has a very advanced military failed its war against the Taliban. This war isn’t all about smart munitions and technology. It’s about fighting on the ground in close quarters where terrorists and civilians all look the same. Afghanistan is about 5 times bigger than the UK and 90% of it is covered in mountains. America must learn from Russia mistake and do the job properly; doing so will save a lot of lives.

If our government took the advice of this brave author I believe we would save the lives of many of our troops. This war can not be won and I fear with Obama's policy we are witnessing the beginning of mission creep.

So many of our troops are being deployed and not only are they losing their lives trying to achieve goals which are futile, but so are other innocents thought to be Islamists. The Government needs to seriously take Ibrahims advice on such matters as sending more troops within a region wont necessarily stabalise it but rather cause more problems in the long run. affective government, policy and procedures need to be in place which are run and governed by the people of that country, not outsiders. Most people there just want freedom and stablilty.
