Why is it the church continues to deceive the poor when it claims the meek will inherit the earth?

Only the rich and powerful inherit anything on this earth!

Since time immemorial, all religions have deceived the poor and, instead of agonising about some kind of hereafter, they should be educating their followers to
live worthwhile lives in the present!

'Make Poverty History' was a slogan of Viscount Earl Atlee. Whilst the G8 was a worthwhile demo, we should have been demonstrating to the eyes and ears of the world against Tory Blair's grip on Poverty Scotland. Bush went back to the USA and Scotland was left with Blair and Broon ruling us from London.

This is not an ethical principle. It is a holy sound-bite. It might be more blessed to give than to receive but that is another matter. Generosity is, in general, good and greed is bad but the suggested principle does not follow from that. For instance, it is not wrong to receive your wages. To give away all your money to the poor and thereby to require other people to be charitable towards you and your family would be irresponsible.
