ONE of Labour's biggest donors in Scotland yesterday said he would not give the party any more money until the row over funding is cleared up.
Glasgow businessman Willie Haughey, who has given an estimated £1 million to Labour since 2003, said allowing those who donate less than £1,000 to remain anonymous was unnecessary. He called on Gordon Brown, the Prime Minister, to ensure all donors are declared so that "every single penny given to any party is transparent", adding: "I won't be giving any more if that is not the case."

The Electoral Commission is currently investigating two donations to Scottish Labour by Paul Green, which were illegal because he is not registered to vote in the UK.

Not a word from the Scotsman about the new revelations on Wendygate. First they ban posts, and when that doesn't work they decide to ignore the story.

I think reform is absolutely imperative. Right after the prosecutions of all those labour crooks, we should have a public discourse, and then an all party commision to set out the rules. Of course Wendy won't be involved 'cause she'll be in the clink.

last post so bye scotsman.
nothing about what wendy, nichol and annabel say, which is what i want to hear. not that 5 days after a press release someone myopic works out that salmond has spoken to trump and co, as well as the council, about matters in his own constituency. pathetic.
scotland needs jobs and investment, and that support it is not coming from london.
i bought it for 25 years so i reckon i was pretty loyal, even if your political section now seem to be less loyal to me as a reader than i was to them.

Gordon Brown, the Prime Minister, to ensure all donors are declared so that "every single penny given to any party is transparent",

Labour can make all the laws about donations they like, the problem is that Labour will just flaunt them as they have done in this case. They have admitted breaking the law and yet nothing seems to have been done. Where is PC Plod? Why have they not been knocking on doors at dawn?

Too little too late, anyway LABOUR have shown they are shameless when it comes to CORRUPTION, they will already be working on ways to circumnavigate any new rules.

Its like Vincent Cable said, though Brown hasn't quite turned into Bean he sure is running a Stalinist state.

(How about having Cable for leader, god knows the Lib Dems need a good shake up, especially up here where their lip marks are still on Labour's derriere. We need more than one opposition party raising the heckles on Labour's grip, the Tories are just like Labour so no hope.)

Big rumour doing the rounds that another party has a problem with its own fundraising.

PS And it's not the SNP. Let's just say a smaller aprty that did not do that well at the Scottish Election.

Why the big fuss over Pakistani arms dealer Imran Khand and Muslim Friends of Labour?
The story came out last August on Channel 4 news.

More donors like him would see some sharpening up I believe... when Labour got £180,000 to educate themeselves about the law donations and then seem to flout openly who do they think is going to take them seriously? Apart from people who think a vote for Labour is a genetic activity.
