PRINCE Harry is the latest member of monarchy to see action in the services. Although his brother, William, graduated from Sandhurst two years ago, several members of Harry's close family have seen active service.
His uncle, Prince Andrew, right, served in the Falklands as a helicopter pilot. He joined the navy in 1979 and after earning his Royal Marines green beret later left with the aircraft carrier HMS Invincible on active service in 1982.

ars later, having acquired numerous commendations from the forces, Andrew joined the Ministry of Defence as a staff officer in the Directorate of Naval Operations. His service in the armed forces came to an end in 2001.
Harry's grandfather, the Duke of Edinburgh, meanwhile, was decorated for his service with the Royal Navy during the Second World War. He joined the navy as a cadet in 1939 and was promoted to lieutenant in 1942.
After serving with distinction on several other vessels, his naval career came to an end when the death of his father-in-law, King George VI, was announced in 1952.
The Duke of Kent – the brother of King George VI – was killed while flying with the RAF in 1942.
Similarly, Prince Maurice of Battenberg, one of Queen Victoria's grandsons, died near Mons in 1914 while a serving officer in the King's Royal Rifle Corps.
