Prince ship seizes £40m drugs haul
PRINCE William had his first taste of excitement on the high seas when he helped carry out a £40 million cocaine seizure.
The Royal Navy warship the prince is serving on recovered nearly a tonne of the drug when it intercepted a speedboat in the West Indies on Saturday.
William was involved in planning the operation and carrying out surveillance of the drugs boat, said Commander Mark Newland, HMS Iron Duke's captain.
The 50ft speedboat was spotted by the ship's helicopter hundreds of miles north-east of Barbados.
Cdr Newland said: "He (Prince William] is someone who contributes at every level. He is a very professional military officer, and very astute. He acts as I would expect a young officer of his experience and maturity to act in this type of operation."
