QUEEN of the South manager Gordon Chisholm hailed Uefa Cup football as "a fantastic experience" despite seeing his club's first foray into Europe come to an early end.
The Irn Bru First Division side were unable to overturn their second qualifying round first leg defeat to Nordsjaelland but were more than a match for their Danish top-flight opponents.
Bob Harris' early stunner gave Queens real hope of an upset b
ut the hosts took advantage of their need for a second goal, with two late Martin Bernburg strikes sealing a 4-2 aggregate success.
Chisholm said: "I thought they gave everything they had, their effort and commitment was absolutely first-class. We had a couple of little chances. With a wee bit more luck then we'd have got another goal. It just wasn't to be.
"I don't think we've let anybody down and we are a wee bit unlucky, but the damage was done in the first game."
Chisholm added: "But it was a fantastic experience. Look, over two legs I'm disappointed, because we could have progressed.
"But we were beaten tonight because we had to open up in the chase for the second goal. And they waited for that and hit us twice through mistakes by us."
Opposite number Morten Wieghorst, who spent a decade playing in Scotland with Dundee United and Celtic, applauded the Doonhamers' efforts.
"I must give lot of credit to Queens," he said. "
Overall, I think Queens had more chances than us, and we struggled to break through."
