RANGERS supporter David Edgar is one of the tens of thousands of fans in Manchester for tonight's UEFA Cup final...
Wednesday 14 May 1445hrs

Left Ayrshire this morning at half past five, from about quarter to six all you could see was a convoy of red, white and blue.

I don't think we saw any car that didn't have some kind of Rangers flag or
banner attached to it. The traffic was bunching, which gave us more time to think about tonight's game and the day ahead.

Manchester is lit literally a sea of red, white band blue - you can't move for supporters.

The noise permeates the entire city and it's impossible to go anywhere without being reminded of what's going on.

We had to park a taxi ride away from the city, but we're among the lucky few who have a room in the city tonight. Many people are just holing up for the night in their cars.

The people of Manchester could not have been friendlier. Walking down Canal Street (the city's famous gay quarter) we couldn't help but laugh at the strange mixture of regulars and bears sitting in the sun enjoying a beer together!

We're now heading off to the fanzone. When we passed there earlier today it was absolutely rocking. You couldn't move. We'll take in the atmosphere there and then move on to the City of Manchester Stadium.

Ho hum, just the one club in the world ever done the Quadruple. Still you got close-about 4 or 5 miles from Paradise.

Still, you managed more arrests than the Tic did from the allegedly heavy handed Spanish cops. Well done Gers.

George Kay,

Far from Manchester madness 14/05/2008 22:11:06
Now that I've found an open thread, let me post on behalf of decent Celtic posters before the idiots on both sides get this one closed too. My main feeling as a Celtic supporter is one of relief that Rangers have failed exactly where we failed 5 years previously, so the equilibrium between our clubs is maintained.

The better team won, and Rangers paid the price for being too cautious, but as they themselves have admitted, they simply don't have the quality to play any other way at this level. It's basically survive, and hope that you get lucky at the other end, but it has to run out sometime. I remember Seville, and the feeling of losing, but the main emotion was the sheer pride at getting there and taking our place on such a big stage, so Rangers fans should adopt that same outlook, your team done superbly just to get there, and that's the way to deal with the disappointment.

Now, back to the real business of the SPL, and what tonight means for it. Bouncing back from tonight as soon as Saturday is a tall order, and even if you do, then doing it all again on Monday evening is another big ask. So I'm quietly confident of our 3-in-a-row prospects. The one thing that this Rangers team doesn't lack though is determination, so I'm not counting any chickens. Maybe you bears could lie down now, give us the SPL, and save yourself for the Scottish Cup final, so we can all go home happy. Good deal, don't you think?

The only thing "shameful shameful shameful" is you, not only for the nature of your post, but for trying to pass yourself off as a different poster completely. I only hope that you are not a Celtic supporter, because you're the type of stirrer that both sides can do without and that gets these threads closed.

You'll find my Celtic credentials are fairly impeccable, #9. I can't call you by name since you're obviously a coward who wants to pass himself off as someone else. You're probably a regular who doesn't want the hassle that would go with using your own name. To answer your question, I wouldn't approve of any hooliganism or violence, but I take no pleasure from hearing about it simply because I'm a Celtic supporter. Having spent a very long time in London, I know only too well that far too many down here would merely see it as "typical Scottish football fans" and wouldn't differentiate between the clubs, having long memories as many of them do, of Scotland's bi-annual visits to Wembley in days of old. So we can all do without it.

I can tell exactly how you feel, believe me. You introduce the term "hate" yourself, which speaks volumes. You could, of course, merely create a brand new identity to cover your cowardice, but you take it a step further by actually purporting to be another regular poster in the hope that somebody may be gullible enough to believe that it is actually him, so you are deceitful as well as distasteful. Your parents must be proud. My only hope is that you are a Rangers fan engaging in a double bluff in an attempt to make Celtic fans look bad. But depressingly, I suspect not.

Well, one thing's for sure. You won't post as YOU, will you, since that would show a level of testicular fortitude and moral fibre that is clearly missing. What a sad specimen. My only relief is that you haven't actually claimed to be a Celtic supporter yet, so the decent ones amongst us will be spared any guilt by association. Mind you, any claim you do make will have to be taken with a shovel of salt anyway, so there's no point.

Just for the record. I, and many other Mancunians, are thankful that the scum element of the Rangers support, a minority it has to be said, are returning to your country.

The scenes greeting people in the city this morning are an appalling reflection on your city.

Shame on some of the blue half of Glasgow. Shame on you. Never, never return.

One hour, hey? What an inconvenience...

Scottish Parliament: apologise to Manchester's citizens and foot the bill for clearing up the filth left by your Scottish scum.

Hi Red Alert,

A point Red. These neaderthals were not typical of the Scottish people.

You must have noticed the Brit-Nat influence amongst the Rangers followers.
Shouldn't joke about this but when Scotland becomes independent £10 vouchers shall be given to encourage immigration to England by this scu*.

You see Red Alert we can do without them as well..

Believe it or not I have just heard a report on radio... 28 arrested in Glasgow near Ibrox Park last night.

The scenes in Manchester have been televised far and wide and U-tube have a good variety to keep EUFA going for a wee while..
Your city has my sympathy but please understand Glasgow and its surrounding areas have to deal with this scenerio most weeks.
They do sing , "no one likes us and we don't care"

This Football club hopefully shall be looking at a 2 year ban from european football Red.

No offence to all the decent Scottish people, squire, I'm only referring to the chosen few 'special needs' of the Rangers crowd.

A lot of it went unreported too: women getting hassled on their way home, Asian people being chased into shops, chanting of the like I won't repeat.

No offence to all decent Scottish people, I'm married to one!
