RANGERS are poised to sign Kyle Lafferty from Burnley in a deal worth in excess of £3million after agreeing terms with the Coca-Cola Championship club.
The 20-year-old Northern Ireland striker had also been interesting Celtic, however Rangers are on the brink of making Lafferty their third striker signing of the summer, after securing deals for Kenny Miller and Andrius Velicka.

They will pay an initial £3million, then a further £250,000 based on appearances.

Alan Gow, 25, will also move to Burnley as part of the deal.
The former Falkirk forward failed to make an impact at Rangers after joining last summer, and will discuss personal terms with Burnley.

Burnley manager Owen Coyle told www.burnleyfootballclub.co.uk: "We have received a very good offer from Rangers – a deal worth close to £4million when you include Alan (Gow), who has been offered to us in return as part of the package.

"Ultimately, from the fans' point of view, Kyle wanted to leave the club after saying he felt it was time to move on."

Relief beyond belief -the young man is a Rangers supporter and he would not have produced the goods for Celtic -can he produce it for Rangers who now have more strikers than a box of Swans !
Great to see the BBC cover a bit more of the Manchester debacle which sullied the image of Scottish football -the truth is emerging despite the collusion orc(h)estrated by the Murray media machine. The Lafferty signing keeps the bad press off the pages to some extent - a wee bit transparent is it not?

Impossible to predict what Kyle Lafferty will bring to the party. He is only learning his trade & could go either way.
I was quite surprised at the antipathy of the Celtic support when they thought he was coming to the East End of the city. We rarely get that degree of unanimity.
I was prepared to trust Gordon Strachan's judgement & he obviously rated him highly, but the majority opinion was very hostile.
I AM quite surprised that Walter Smith's signing priority is focused on strikers. I would have thought his more important requirements lie elsewhere.
That is probably why I am not a manager.
We have an interesting season ahead. As a Celtic man, I am not unhappy with what has happened so far in the transfer market.

Walter Smith, took all sorts of criticism, last season, for defensive play ,tactics, blah ,blah...
He answers the same people,by going for 3 strikers, albeit Miller,Vellicka and Lafferty.
I don`t think Walter intends to play as defensively, this season, and these signings go some way to proving that.As a celtic fan pointed out,on an earlier thread, wgs has a financial margin for error, and Smith doesn`t.His signings to date have been prudent, and the goals we obviously lacked in the last quarter of the season, cost us dearly.
As far as I`m concerned,if we can offload the waste of space, that is cousin, then it will be a good close season, though I fear his antics towards the end of last season, would put off even the most desperate of clubs.

A good signing with bags of potential and hopefully with Davis on board two more players who are fans of the club.

Will be interesting to see how he fits in, I reckon JCD/Cousin/Boyd are EPL/Championship bound thus recouping a fair chunk ofthe £6 mil shelled out.

£6m spent on three strikers, good to see Wattie splashing the cash.

Celtic have sold Scotland's Shame a dummy before by feigning interest in a player that they have no real intention of signing simply to drive up the price for Sir Minty.

This could be such a scenario. Rangers have ended up paying the best part of £4m on a guy that couldn't score in a brothel during happy hour.

Meanwhile, Champions Celtic move immediately to targets a gazillion steps up the ladder : Pavluchenko and Darren Bent.

It doesn't make sense ...failing to get Laugherty and then , as a fall back, moving for a £16m player, unless off course the laugherty business was just a ruse.

Oh dear......lost yer sense of humour?

Another grrrrreeeeetin faced Rangers fan upset at Celtic winning the league....which has been compounded when they signed Miller.......now the complete win treble with a kick in the baws to boot by adding Lafferty....to the comedy story that is has unfolded!

How much more can the Gers fans take?

91 - The rage in your question? Where do I begin?

Apparently Rearrangers lost the league because of the postponement of one game due to the tragic death of Phil O'Donnell.

Nothing to do with Rearrangers losing games, particularly them dropping points away from home against top 6 opposition all season, hmmm?

The dignified Glasgow Rearrangers who are still raging at not getting the third extension last season they said they would never ask for.

And the "mhedia" were in on it, eh? :-D

I'm loving the paranoia of Rearrangers fans. The psychological scars of Tommy Burns Thursday will haunt them for years to come.

I'm wondering who the hell is leaving with all the strikers coming in .
-Naismith out for the year.
-Boyd HAS to stay, best we have by far!
-Novo just signed a new contract, hope he gets a good few games, up front or wide, no matter where.
-Darcheville i would like to stay, the reason we did so well last year i believe was partly due to his strength and pace at holding the ball up.
-Cousin to go because he doesn't want to be here.

so
-velicka in
-miller in
-lafferty in

add mcculloch as possibility up front as well.

who else leaves, can only see cousin leaving and excluding naismith that leaves six strikers and i thought we were crying out for a creative midfielder!

94 - Paul, since the disappointments of last season, both the hilarious implosion of the "historic quadruple", the undignified childish outbursts of Walter Smith, Martin Bain and co. regarding further extensions to the league (which they said they would never ask for), the sacking and pillaging of Manchester which has destroyed the tattered shreds of Rearrangers' reputation in England, and the signing of Kenny Miller and co., Rearrangers fans have been writhing and seething in their own toxic rage.

Paranoia and revisionism are now in vogue amongst them. Apparently it was all a big plot by "the mhedia" and Peter Lawwell. Nobody likes them and they don't care, but nobody will help poor Rearrangers.

Theirs is a losers mentality. It's hilarious, and I'm loving it! :-D

#95 Hardly Phil, we had a great season, took Celtic to the wire (Was meant to have been sewn up by Nov according to most Celtc taleban posters on here), won two cups and had the pleasure of some great European memories. Was in Lyon, Stuttgart, Barcelona, Florence for the semi, what a win and of course was at the final...a great european run and one which I didn't expect in my lifetime. So happy to gift one league title, especially as we are so far ahead in those stakes.

I mean Phil when I look back, last season was great and I wouldn't change anything!

why would you want to kill all celts i see you are still hurting big time .
here is an old saying for you 1 swallow does not make a summer also one win does not make a team .
and as for the game being called off for the respect of a former celt . celtic and rangers both agreed to it so to start crying over that now really is childish . but then again i suppose it was our fault that your fellow so called fans were wrecking and destroying manchester and assaulting the police .like the orcs from mordor .that most of you are .
