Retailers seek rent changes

SOME of Britain's biggest retailers have launched a campaign to radically change the way they pay rent.
Firms such as Boots, Next, Argos and Debenhams are calling on landlords to allow them to pay monthly in advance rather than quarterly, according to reports yesterday.
The upfront payments, which are one of the key agreements in the property industry, have a huge impact on cash flow. The revolt challenges long-standing property industry practice.
