AN EIGHTH straight victory keeps the unbeaten Currie bandwagon rolling on at the top of the table.
Currie had the bonus point in the bag by half-time, however, and although Accies came back briefly with a well-worked second-half try, the home team closed the game out comfortably.
It was a high-energy start to the game with Currie No8 Mark Cai
rns launching himself into a 50m sprint up the right wing off the back of the first scrum and Accies running it deep into the 22 before it was returned by centre Willie Moala to halfway where Accies centre Ian Berthinussen intercepted the ball to go all the way under the posts.
But Currie composed themselves to fight back and wide pass gave Dougie Fife just enough space to go over the line, with full-back Johnnie Smith's conversion making it all square.
Currie's second try came on the half hour immediately after Accies openside David Denton was sin binned for interfering a ruck and Cairns was able to exploit the weakened scrum to find a gap and dive over.
Accies tried to change the flow by replacing Ruriadh Bonner at stand-off with Fijian Jack Prasad, but his first pass was intercepted by Matt Scott who ran 50 metres to score.
Alex Blair converted his own try to keep his team within touching distance but Currie grabbed the bonus try right on half time as Ross Weston scored from another close-range back-row move.
After more Currie pressure in the second half, Accies fought back and good work by scrum-half Ross Samson put winger Chris Dickie in at the corner. Blair converted to bring Accies within seven points.
The unexpected reverse was enough to convince Currie to take points when they were on offer and Smith thumped over a 30-metre attempt to increase the margin to ten points. He landed his second penalty moments later.
The game was rounded off by Currie's fifth try when Scott chipped over the advancing Accies for Fife to collect and touch down. Fife got his hat-trick of tries in injury time with a gallop down the left wing. Smith's sixth successful conversion completed the scoring.
