Not far off the mark.I`d give Harrington 1 out of 10.He in my book is not a Ryder Cup Team player.Garcia also would get a 1 as he`s went back so far he may have went for a game at the K Club with the members. You cannot have in the Ryder Cup have someone who putts as bad as him.

No:1 you're spot on regarding Garcia. His game is all over the place. He has virtually no control over the distance he hits his scoring clubs (8, 9, PW, GW & SW) meaning he ends up taking a club less than required and trying to absolutely nail it. This leads to so many heavy’s and miss hits that he misses a disproportionate number of greens to fairways hit.

This happens because he has virtually no weight transfer on his back swing and needs to generate all his power from his upper body. This is now affecting his long shots were he is deliberately playing a punchie swing with 3w, 1 iron and 3 iron taking a big divot. This again leads to inconsistency in his quality of strike and distance control.

Missing greens is a massive problem for him now as his putting between 3-15 foot is poor and unless he chips stiff he has an iffy put. Kim picked up on this and made him put the short ones at every opportunity.

This hasn’t just happened over night. If you look at the last few months on tour especially in the last few majors he has come up short of greens several times from strong positions on the fairway.

As for Harrington, he is a scrambler and a grafter, not a birdie machine which will also make it difficult for him in matchplay. He comes to the fore on difficult courses when scoring is high. This isn’t a criticism but unfortunately means if someone hits him with 8 birdies he will struggle.
