THE Safeway supermarket brand will be gone from the UK by the end of this week, when Morrisons completes its 20-month conversion scheme.
Morrisons, which bought Safeway for £3 billion in March 2004, will today open the doors at the final four stores to have new livery. Of 479 Safeway shops, Morrisons has converted more than 200, with most of the others sold to rivals.
