A MAN was found dead in his home yesterday after he failed to turn up in court to face a charge of attempting to murder his former girlfriend.
Peter Clark, 37, is understood to have hanged himself three days into a trial for carrying out an attack with a hammer on Samantha Dudman, 37, inflicting devastating head injuries.

Police were sent to Clark's house in Kelty, Fife, when he did not arrive at the High Court in Edinburgh yesterday morning.

Advocate-depute John Hamilton reported to judge Colin MacAulay, QC, that officers had found the body. "My understanding is clearly he committed suicide," said Mr Hamilton.

Clark had been on bail. He was accused of attempting to murder Ms Dudman by repeatedly striking her on the head and body with a hammer in Inverkeithing, Fife, on 22 January last year.
