THE world's biggest second-hand charity book sale will open in Edinburgh tomorrow with more than 100,000 books, ranging from a 1578 book of Plato in Greek and Latin to the latest best-seller by Irvine Welsh.
Doors open at 9am for the annual Christian Aid sale at St Andrew's & St George's Church in George Street, which runs until 16 May, excluding Sunday. Last year's sale raised £105,000 for Christian Aid.

Meanwhile in London yesterday it was announced that JK Rowling is to join a dozen other major authors in writing storycards for an auction arranged by book chain Waterstone's on 10 June to raise money for English PEN and Dyslexia Action.
