Where's Maggie Broon? If he can go to Afghanistan and Iraq, why is he so feart of coming to Glasgow East? A wee timourous cowering beastie... and he claims to be a Scot.

I thought Broonie said that Prime Ministers dont do by elections!

Blair did by-elections, even Churchill did by-elections, but the wee timourous cowering beastie, and pseudo-Scot cannot be bothered to visit Scotland, let alone Glasgow East.

Gordon Brown will not visit Glasgow East in keeping with the tradition that prime ministers do not campaign in by-elections.
Uxbridge,1997-Labour's campaign included a visit by PM Tony Blair.
Eddisbury,1999-PM Tony Blair went to the constituency to campaign.
Hamilton South,1999-Personal appearances by PM Tony Blair, Gordon Brown.

Apparently the Middle East is safer for him to visit than Glasgow East.

Broon obviously prefers to be distributing his largesse in the Middle East rather than actually doing ANYTHING for the folks at home.

Just imagine what the £ 30million he has just handed the Palestinians would have done in Glasgow East!

I understand that Broon misunderstood Curran who asked him to canvass at the Barras. He thought she said Basra!

The Scots Tories are deluding themselves if they actually believe they can somehow influence the outcome of the result in Glasgow East? The voters of Glasgow East will be asking: Theresa Who? Dominic Who? George Who?

In 1997, the Scots Tory Party was wiped out, and 10 years later has still never recovered. It has
always been a pretendy Scots party and with only one Westminster MP is still treated like a political pariah by the mass of Scots voters who have long memories.

The Tories know only too well that this is not Wolverhampton and the contest in Glasgow East is between the two largest Scots political parties, with the opinion polls pointing strongly towards a Labour victory.

Anyone have any idea who the Unionist nutter is who's destroying the comments sections?

NuLab must be in serious trouble.

It seems the poster David Banks who is ruining the comments section is also able to post 3 times per second which is quicker than Lee Harvey Oswalds trigger finger.

The poster David Banks is the fasted man in the world. Who would have believed superman was a labour voter!

I am starting to feel their is some scorched earth policies being deployed by unionists.

Of course we are 'assuming' David Banks is a unionist? I also assume this as it does show they are getting very scared about the result of this by-election.
Unfortunately, I also feel Labour will scrape this with a very reduced majority. I can read the spin now. If Labour lose, 'It was only a by-election. We will win the real election in 2010' If Labour win, it will be a 'crushing blow for Scottish Independance supporters in a vital by-election!'
I have to say I am dreading the comments sections on Friday morning. I do live in hope however. . . .

Think back two years. If I had said to you SNP in government in Holyrood and Labour running scared about Glasgow East by-election you would have recommended I seek professional help. Who cares what the unionist press say, who cares who london thinks.

Maybe our generation can play an important role in the saga that is Scottish Politics. Offer the future generations something to be proud of.

A Nation no different from any other. Not a region or a part but a fully fledged independent nation with its own problems and solutions.

For too long the will of the people has been manipulated by the political dark arts of people like AM2.

The thing that gets me about the Banks infested stories is that the Scotsman has left the commenyts section open. Claiming a hundred odd comments above the 1000 cut off. Then they have moderated - deleted- some comments bit left the tripod ones intact. And when you try to comment on this the comments counter goes up one but your comment does not appear.

Is there a webmaster at the Scotsman?

It is almost as though they are doing it on purpose. Either that or the webmaster at the Scotsman is off for the long weekend and the tea boy AM2 is in charge.
