SCOTLAND'S biggest police force has been criticised for failing to properly investigate alleged threats by a serving officer that he would frame his ex-girlfriend's new boyfriend.
In a report published today, Jim Martin, the Police Complaints Commissioner, says Strathclyde Police may have breached the Lord Advocate's guidelines by failing to report the apparent threats to the procurator fiscal.

"After a detailed review, I remain unclear whether this is down to maladministration, incompetence or a desire to avoid thorough investigation," said Mr Martin.

He has ordered the force to review its handling of the case, which involved alleged text threats from a constable and was allowed to drag on for five years.

the report says they should have reported the APPARENT threats. No mention that they would have been or had been substantiated or that any investigation was carried out at all. Perhaps an investigation was carried out and it was thought a complete waste of time. I was a serving officer and went through an acrimonious divorce from my wife years ago and you should have seen the things she was reporting about me with no substatiation at all. Same might be said about the girlfriend of this cop.

I was also subject to numerous fictatious complaints and one of them I decided stuff this. The injury i received at that time I then decided if the system wants to play so will I. I got a good doctors report into bruising I had received and got a good sum from the Criminal Comp Scheme. Goes both ways.

Given how easy it is to check up on text messages, what stopped them from doing any checks?
