A SKINNY-DIPPER has braved the cold to swim 100 lochs in a week.
Jackie Brown, 23, from Edinburgh, set off on her naked tour of Scotland a week ago, hoping to swim all the country's 138 lochs to raise money for breast cancer charities.

After suffering a number of setbacks she had to take some off her list, bu
t still managed an impressive 100. She slipped in Loch Ceo Glais, just outside Inverness, and badly cut her foot, but continued.

Ms Brown, who is originally from Australia, said: "I really want a pint but I'm on antibiotics, so I can't.

"I think I'm just going to go home and have a good wash and a cup of tea instead."

Despite the setbacks, which also included a bad cold throughout and being sick, she said the experience had been "fun".

She said: "The scenery has been just beautiful everywhere, absolutely breathtaking. I saw one of the most amazing sunsets just outside Inverness.

"In retrospect, it's just been so fun. If the disasters hadn't occurred, it wouldn't have been so memorable. We never planned on all those things going wrong."

"The plan was to do 138 lochs and if we hadn't been held up on several sessions, we would have been able to do all of them."

To quote the author of this report "hoping to swim all the country's 138 lochs"
- been reading Wikipedia?

According to some authorities there are approx. 31,460 freshwater lochs.

In fact a bathymetrical survey was done of over 550 of the larger lochs between 1897 - 1909 and for loch fanatics these can be seen along with old maps at http://www.nls.uk/maps/bathymetric/index.html
This was before many were dammed and enlarged.

Anyway a "pretty good show" by the lady but 100 lochs in a week means an average of about 1 and 3/4 hours per loch assuming no sleep and including travel between them so not a lot of swimming in each perhaps.

Jackie,

I read your article and was much impressed by your spirit of perseverance etc through this admirable project. I was more impressed, however, that all you wanted at the end of it was a pint, but couldn't, as you were on anti-biotics.

One of the newspapers also printed your street name and as I live locally, I would like to buy you that pint when you are off the pills!

Are you game??!!
