ONE passenger was taken to hospital and others were said to have suffered cuts and bruises after a train hit a stationary, empty carriage at Glasgow Central station yesterday morning.
Passengers on the 08:24 service from Gourock were thrown to the floor by the force of the impact.

A woman was taken to hospital in a taxi as a precaution but was later said to have been released.

A First ScotRail spokesman said an investigation was under way. He said five passengers suffered minor injuries. An eyewitness writing on a BBC website wrote: "Passengers were thrown from their seats and those standing at the doors were lifted off their feet.

"Thankfully, the moving train was slowing down to a stop at the time. I'd estimate the speed to be just a few miles an hour, less than five.

"I heard a few panicky voices. I was in the last car. The passengers in the first two cars would have caught most of the impact. I believe several people have cuts and bruises and one has been taken to hospital."
