GLASGOW needs more money to support domestic abuse services, an MSP has claimed.
Margaret Curran, the Labour MSP for Baillieston, has called on the Scottish Government to give emergency funding to local women's groups, to help victims escape abusive partners.

Police statistics showed 27,000 incidents were reported in the last year in the Strathclyde area – an average of 74 a day – with more after major football matches.

Strathclyde Police have said the increase in reporting suggests women are becoming more confident in reporting assaults by their partners.

Surely this is sexism.
Women are not the only sufferes from domestic abuse
nor Rape
Nor all the other examples of (positive) gender discrimination.

#2 The abuse by women of their partners does not warrant a mention on the back page. Promiscuity, lack of love for their children, their husband. Inability to meet their fair share in a marriage. Not a lot of news worthy reading in that. It has been going on for years and no doubt now is quite acceptable.

There are 3 children a week killed by abuse/neglect and most were killed by their mothers and/or her boyfriend.

Why are they not interested in this far greater number of child victims?

Is it because they are mostly killed by women &/or their boyfriends?

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/three-children-a-week-ndash-the-death-toll-from-abuse-1061272.html

In 2007/08:

There was 72 women killed by their partners -
That is just under 1.4 women a week.

There were 34 men killed by their partners -
That is just under 0.7 men a week.

Latest stats from the British Crime Survey 2009:

'Men make up 40% (two in five) of the victims of domestic abuse.

Nearly as many men as women (48% : 52%) had been victims of severe force perpetrated by their partner in 2007/08).

34 men were murdered by a partner/ex-partner compared to 72 women. The ratio is 32% : 68% in 2007/08.

Women accounted for 'ONLY' 5.9% of those prosecuted for domestic violence in 2007/08.'

Men and children are being failed completely by govt policy as women perpetrators are seldom prosecuted for the same behaviour as men, why?'

3....Quite right...none of that is newsworthy...except for the facts re domestic violence on men or women...the rest is just idle gossip or bitterness...

4..Again these are English stats...and please clarify whether the male victims were on the receiving end of female only violence or male violence? As I stated previously sometimes domestic violence stats include attacks by a family member also (ie brother father sister mother) and not just a partner...speaking of which, how many of these domestic violence incidents against men were perpetrated by gay male partners? Hopefully you will be able to clarify...
