DOUGIE Brown, who was the only Scot in the running to become Cricket Scotland's next head coach, has withdrawn from the race and will remain at Warwickshire.
The Scotland all-rounder is understood to have accepted an offer from the county's new director of cricket, Ashley Giles, to take a backroom coaching role at Edgbaston.

Brown, 38, had also applied for the role of bowling coach at Essex, who were willing to allow him to continue playing.

But the Scot, who played nine one-day matches for England, won't enjoy that privilege at Warwickshire, where he made his first-class debut in 1992.

Andy Lawson, former right-hand man of deposed coach Peter Drinnen, remains the only candidate to have publicly expressed interest in the vacancy.
