KYLE Coetzer has refused to rule himself out of contention for Scotland's first-ever one-day international against England.
The 24-year-old batsman, who last played for Scotland two years ago due to commitments with his county side, Durham, has already held discussions with Scotland coach Pete Steindl about his availability for the coming season, including the 18 August game against the Auld Enemy.

Coetzer, who was due to line up for Durham against the Saltires before rain postponed their pre-season encounter yesterday, said: "The subject of me playing for Scotland keeps coming up and I would never rule out playing for my country.

"I've spoken to Pete several times, but these decisions are for the future and my priority is preparing for the new season with Durham."

Scotland coach Steindl now has just Monday's game against the MCC to settle on his starting line-up for the FP Trophy opener against Lancashire on 28 April.

He said: "Today would have given our younger players an opportunity to show what they can do."
