GREAT fireworks, stunning displays and overall a stupendous opening ceremony for the Beijing Olympics: a bullish signal for investors, or a dark warning?
What did it matter if, unobserved in the millions of gushing words on "the rise of China" or "the new Chinese century", the Shanghai stock market fell 4.5 per cent on the day the Olympic fireworks lit up the sky?
