HEARTS manager Casba Laszlo will hold discussions with Uganda midfielder David Obua after the player arrived in Edinburgh yesterday.
Obua has recently been on trial at West Ham United but is keen to consider all options after leaving the South African club Kaiser Chiefs on freedom of contract.

It is not yet clear whether Obua, 24, would qualify for a UK work permit but he flew into Edinburgh to meet his former coach and tour Hearts' facilities at both Tynecastle and Riccarton.

"We have arrived in Scotland and we will meet the manager for some talks," said the player's agent, Janos Hrutka.

"There is not much more we can say at the moment. There may be more to say after the discussions with Mr Laszlo and the work permit is something we must talk about."

Players from outside the European Union are normally required to have played 75 per cent of competitive matches for their national side over the previous two years to be granted permission to sign.

That's the same feeling I get after reading any Hearts acrticles in the Scotsman...........except I replace the word 'African' with 'Hobo'.

The situation in Scottish football apart from the big two there is not enough money to spend on big name signings. So clubs hope to find a hidden gem. Clubs north of the border don't draw big enough crowds and receive less tv money to be on a parity with English Championship clubs. However there have been some good players found and have moved on to bigger clubs and the transfer fees help keep the debts down. So only time will tell if this is a good signing, if he does sign.

1# Ah well, if Hearts do agree to sign Obua any worries of him being more "African dross" won't matter as the ex old firm panel will turn down his application for a work permit anyway.

#1, no your mob have already tapped the african dross market. goon.

#6, better believe it. there is discretionary leeway in granting permits, none of which will be shown towards us.

Hibs fans still more interested in Hearts than what's going on at their own gaff - typical.

No goals, no keepers and a squad/fans with no faith in the manager.

Gloomy clouds over Easter Road.
