FALKIRK manager Eddie May remains in the dark over the funds available to his quest to keep the club in the Clydesdale Bank Premier League.
Chairman Martin Ritchie has admitted he may not have given May enough money following the summer exit of 14 players. Reports claim Ritchie will free £500,000 after Falkirk went four points adrift at the bottom of the SPL.
May, who saw the playing
budget cut by a third following the exit of predecessor John Hughes, is hoping to re-sign striker Pedro Moutinho and is considering a move for trialist Pedro Pele.
"I've never been aware that there is one penny available in January," May said. "People have said about half-a-million, but I have never had one conversation with anybody at the football club in terms of an actual figure.
"All I've made them aware of is that we could do with more players."
The addition of former fans' favourite Moutinho could address the team's scoring problems, but he may not be available until January amid confusion over when he was released by Maritimo.
"Pedro is available after international clearance," May said. "It's up to Pedro to find out if he's a free agent or not."
Former West Brom defender Pele, 31, is also training with the club, but May will not rush into a deal.
