Brora Rangers needed extra time to see off Newton Stewart 2-1 at Dudgeon Park. Sam McKay struck the winner five minutes into extra-time when he created space in the penalty box before firing home.
Brora had scored midway through the first half w
ith a close-range Jake Inglis goal, only for Newton Stewart's James McColm to strike a 48th-minute equaliser. Forfar await the Highland club in round two.

In an all-East of Scotland Premier Division clash, Selkirk beat Borders rivals Coldstream 3-2 on penalties after a 2-2 draw at Yarrow Park, and will now play Dalbeattie Star in the next round.
Selkirk, however, should have had the tie won in normal time. Leading through goals from John Waldie and Ewan Pritchard with five minutes left, they allowed the visitors to stun them with late strikes from Matthew Travis and Jason Ingles to force extra-time.
The second-round ties will be played on 25 October.
