A NATIONAL holiday to mark St Andrew's Day has won the backing of MSPs.
The Scottish Parliament's enterprise committee has published a report endorsing a new bank holiday on or near 30 November.

A bill sponsored by the independent MSP Dennis Canavan won the support of Jack McConnell earlier this month, after the First Minister had voiced initial doubts about the proposal.

But Mr McConnell said it should be a substitute for an existing local holiday, rather than an additional one.

Whats the good of these people saying yes it should be a national holiday when the company bosses dont pay one bit of notice and make you work anyway.
Ok it will be good for follyrood, they will shut for the day and the good old tax payer will pay for their holidays, if that was me, i would back the idea to lol

Why don't they make every day a holiday and just select certain days when everyone will work? Concept is already proven if you go to the big white shed at the bottom of the Royal Mile
