GREENHOUSE gas emissions by all the Group of Eight industrial nations – except Russia – fell in 2006 in the deepest dip since the world started trying to slow climate change in 1990, a new survey revealed yesterday.
Rising oil prices, some measures to curb global warming and a milder winter in the US in 2006, which depressed energy demand, all contributed to an overall 0.6 per cent dip in G8 emissions in 2006 from 2005. Michael Raupach, of the Earth Observation Centre in Australia, said that while the Reuters sur-vey results were "encouraging", far tougher action was needed to stabilise emissions to avert "dangerous" climate changes.

So when the coming 'climate catastrophe' fails to materialise the greens will claim this fact as having saved the day. They never miss a trick to save their own ar*ses.

Oh no, GB, you are a step behind here. You have mistakenly used the now quite out of favor among the enviro-sophisticates, 'global warming. No good!

Suppose it doesn't get warmer everyplace? Hmm? Have you thought of that? Suppose it gets warmer in some places but colder in others? Since this happens with enough regularity to throw melted Greenland glacier water on the whole "warming" deal the Enviro-commies have come up with a new phrase. It's now "climate change." See, the beauty part is that is can now be claimed that mans pernicious influence on the weather causes it to both warmer and colder. Pretty clever, wouldn't you say?
