BLUR will headline this year's T in the Park festival, it was announced yesterday.
The reunited band will headline the main stage at Balado, Kinross-shire, on Saturday, 11 July. It will be their third time at the event.

Blur played at the first T in the Park in 1994 on a bill that also included Oasis and Pulp, and they headlined the main stage in 1999. Kings of Leon, Snow Patrol and Katy Perry have already been confirmed for this year's line-up.

Geoff Ellis, chief executive of DF Concerts, which promotes the festival, said: "It's fantastic that Blur have re-formed and we're delighted to be able to confirm them for T in the Park this year, especially as the last time they played the festival was ten years ago."

Meanwhile, organisers of the Gathering 2009 yesterday announced that some of the biggest names in Scottish music, including the Gaelic singer Julie Fowlis, Capercaillie and the Battlefield Band, will perform.

A mix of highland games and music festival, the Gathering takes place in Edinburgh's Holyrood Park in July, as a highlight of the year of Homecoming Scotland.
