A DRIVER died yesterday when his car was hit by a stolen vehicle which flipped over a motorway central reservation as traffic police tried to stop it.
Officers in cars and a force helicopter were pursuing a Mitsubishi along the A1(M) near Durham at 5:40am when it crossed the carriageway and hit a Peugeot heading south.

Durham police said a full investigation had been launched and it would refer the matter to the Independent Police Complaints Commission.
