ITV show rapped over Cilla interview
THE ITV1 show This Morning has been rapped by the broadcasting watchdog over an interview with Cilla Black.
Ofcom investigated following a complaint that the show, presented by Fern Britton and Phillip Schofield, endorsed the former Blind Date host's new business venture, a psychic phone-line service.
The broadcasting code states that products and services must not be promoted or given undue prominence in TV shows.
ITV said it had fully briefed Black before the interview, and it was "unfortunate" she referred to the venture "in a manner over and beyond that discussed prior to the programme".
Ofcom said it was "concerned" Black gave out the web address of the product and referred to the phone-line several times. ITV said it has decided to review pre-interview procedures with celebrity guests.
Two controversial episodes of the BBC soap EastEnders have been criticised by the corporation's complaints unit.
The character Max Branning was drugged and buried alive before finally being released by his wife, Tanya.
