Potter 'didn't care for rabbit dolls'

A LETTER is to go on sale in which Beatrix Potter states she did not "care" for the commercialisation of Peter Rabbit.
Bonhams will offer the archive material in a sale in London on 4 November.
Estimated at £2,000 to £4,000, the collection includes a signed first edition of The Tailor of Gloucester as well as correspondence between Potter and her friends, Elizabeth and Edith Todhunter, who ran a small business from their home in Windermere designing and making dolls.
One extract from a letter reads: "There is nothing more to be made of 'Peter' commercially. There have been dolls, china, slippers etc for years – they bring in royalties; but somehow I never care for any of them."
