A LORRY driver who veered across motorway lanes as he watched episodes of Battlestar Galactica while behind the wheel has been banned from the road for 15 months.
Sci-fi fan Benjamin Trotman, 37, had one eye on the road and the other on the cult TV series showing on a 14in laptop on his dashboard, Penrith Magistrates' Court was told.

The father of two drove at 55mph for 25 miles on the M6 in Cumbria, veering from hard shoulder to middle lane, slowing down and speeding up as he followed the action. Another trucker, who could see his cab lit up and characters on the screen, sounded his horn before calling police.

Trotman, of Bridgnorth, Shropshire, had earlier pleaded guilty to dangerous driving near Kendal last Decem-ber. Yesterday, he was banned for 15 months, given 225 hours' community service and ordered to pay £546 costs.

His defence lawyer cited marital diffculties as a partial reason for this odd behaviour.
He said his client was arguing at home all the time and needed some space.

This behaviour is quite common, esp with truckers from Eurpoe.
