ENGLAND looked set to escape the worst of the wintry weather this week as heavy snow was forecast for Scotland and parts of Northern Ireland today.
Tony Conlan, a forecaster with MeteoGroup, the weather division of the Press Association, said the "vast bulk of snow" was going to fall across northern parts of the UK, mainly Scotland and Northern Ireland, tonight and tomorrow.

The rest of the U
K will be "changeable" for the next few days, with "some rain, some showers, but some drier periods in between", he said.

"There will be heavy snow over the higher ground, but I don't think it's going to be particularly hazardous," Mr Conlan said.

The wintry weather comes the day after a report found a lack of preparation and co-ordination hampered efforts to keep transport running in London during the heavy snows at the beginning of last month.

The report from the London Assembly Transport Committee questioned whether London Mayor Boris Johnson could have been informed of the transport problems earlier.

It said there did not appear to be any single person in charge of the response to the bad weather, as there would have been in the event of a major incident such as a terrorist attack.

But Mr Conlan said this week's bad weather would not be on the same scale.

He said most of Scotland would get some snow overnight tonight and tomorrow, with higher ground being most affected.

Temperatures are expected to range from about 6C in northern Scotland to about 10C in southern England, with "chilly" periods across the country tomorrow and Thursday.

Having travelled the Globe for the best part of a year, I can confirm that the weather in this country is among the least extreme and least news worthy of any country anywhere in the World. Why does it continue to get so much coverage?

Because the media have made so much hype about MMGW and spent years bending our minds regarding normal weather that when we get normal weather, it's made out to be freak weather that nobody can deal with.

The MMGW Marxist Alarmists and Al Gore have also all played thier part.

Does anyone who isn't being paid to do so still believe global warming?

I am not sure about "global warming" but I wish people would use the more accurate description of 'climate change' - that is definately happening.

The causes of this climate change are what we should be debating. It is not as simple as human sourced carbon emmissions there are so many variables. Do not forget that should the Gulf Stream shut down (as it is suggested it might, if their is a big enough influx of cold meltwater from the Arctic) we in Scotland will definately be needing to get the thermals and snow chains out. Maybe all those 4x4's shuffling around Morningside may finally be needed.

According to the Met office this Winter would have been even colder if it wasn't for global warming.

You really have to think about that statement for a bit to realise how dumb they think we are.

In other words, we told you we would have warmer wetter Winters. This one isn't. So now we're telling you that when it's really cold, it should really be even colder.

MMGW has become like a faith based belief system. No matter what happens, it's explained through some complex connection with MMGW.

"25 September 2008
The Met Office forecast for the coming winter suggests it is, once again, likely to be milder than average."

The Met Office never knowingly failed to forecast on the warm side!

Good point. The Met Office can't accurately predict warm vs. cold 3 months in advance but somehow the believers trust them to predict the thickness of the ice cap for the next 150 years!!!

"I am not sure about "global warming" but I wish people would use the more accurate description of 'climate change' - that is definately happening."

Ah, you mean the *revised* description that came about when the legions of "researchers" realised that what they were predicting was patently untrue?

It's a simple fact that there are more people in the world in higher education that at any previous time. In order to gain a phD, the scientists must carry-out and thoroughly document a piece of "unique" research. The result is: a constant barrage in the press of spurious "research" telling us this, that and the next thing. As they progress and "make their bones" in their chosen career, the depend more and more on research grants and live to be published, the "OSCARS@ being, of course, a Nobel prize, so all their peers can applaud them.

Enough of this nonsense! In ALL aspects of life. ALL research that is grant funded must be looked at in the same way as sponsored commercials.
