THE second-most senior police officer in a Mexican city near the border with Texas has been shot dead, the latest high-ranking official to die in a spate of killings blamed on drug gangs.
Gunmen sprayed Juan Antonio Roman Garcia's car with bullets outside his home in Ciudad Juarez. The attack came months after his name appeared at the top of a hit-list left at a monument for fallen police officers.
