EU proposes 1bn food crisis fund
THE European Union yesterday proposed a 1 billion (£790 million) two-year emergency fund to help poor countries cope with the global food crisis.
The fund – using cash unspent in this year's EU farm budget – will aim to help stabilise supply markets.
