UN mediator calls for truce in Congo

A TOP mediator at United Nation-backed talks for the war-battered DR Congo is urging a truce.
Benjamin Mkapa, the former Tanzanian president, yesterday said rebel and government forces must agree to stop fighting. The talks are being held in Nairobi, Kenya.
